What are the capacity limits for different event layouts in The Common Room?
The Common Room accommodates up to 96 guests cabaret style with catering served in the room, 144 guests cabaret with catering in a different room, 150 theatre style with catering in the room, 180 guests theatre style including stage, or 244 theatre style with catering in adjacent space. For seated dinners, it holds up to 180 guests on round tables with stage setup.
What AV equipment is included and what does it cost?
Standard AV package costs £400 + VAT and includes stage, screen/projector, two repeater screens, lectern with lectern mic, handheld mic, flipchart, and PA system. An AV technician is provided to assist with setup for conference packages.
What catering options and pricing are available through Graysons?
Two-course dinner costs £57 + VAT per person. DDR packages start from £60 + VAT per person (minimum 100 guests) including arrival refreshments, lunch, and AV equipment. Christmas packages are £147-£172 + VAT per person including three-course dinner, drinks, entertainment, and decorations.
What are the weekend event requirements and minimum spends?
Weekend events require minimum spends from £10,000 + VAT as the building is usually closed. Weekend venue hire for weddings is £4,000 + VAT with £6,000 + VAT minimum catering spend. The venue offers more flexibility on weekdays.
What ceremony and wedding packages are available?
Ceremony packages cost £52.50 + VAT per person (minimum 300 guests) including exclusive hire of Common Room and Reading Room 12:00-17:00, prosecco reception, four bowl food options, AV and staging, and dedicated team. Alternative finger food buffet packages are £47.50 + VAT per person.
What additional services and costs should I budget for?
Additional costs include security (mandatory for events), photo booth from £950 + VAT, three canapés for £14.50 + VAT per person, and uplighters for ambience. The venue provides dedicated team, digital signage, cloakroom facilities, and complimentary Wi-Fi as standard.
What are the access and setup arrangements?
Event organisers receive early access one hour before the event start time (e.g., 17:00 access for 18:00 events, 08:00 access for 09:00 events). Guests are welcomed by reception security team who notify the events team of arrivals. The venue is located at 113 Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1PL.
Are there restrictions on dates or availability?
The venue has limited availability and some dates are not available due to existing bookings. The on-site restaurant does not serve food throughout August. Dates can be held provisionally for 7 days, and some spaces may be available on second option while other clients hold provisional bookings.

The Holden Room costs £800 + VAT (18:00-23:00) with 35% discount available and £500 + VAT minimum catering spend. Holborn & Lincoln rooms cost £950 + VAT per day (9am-5pm) with £200 + VAT minimum catering spend, accommodating up to 20 guests boardroom style.
