The Ditch is the untouched basement space of the original Grade II listed building. A dozen interconnecting rooms with original features, exposed brickwork and pipes, fireplaces and stoves provide a unique and intimate setting events. With its own secret, speak-easy entrance on Old Street, The Ditch is an exclusive warren of spaces to discover with an atmospheric, distressed aesthetic, hidden in the heard of Shoreditch. It can be transformed to create an immersive setting for product launches, creative fundraising events, conference breakout spaces and receptions.



Frequently asked questions

The venue is completely unavailable from late June through July, August, and September due to large rehearsals that occupy the entire venue. Additionally, from November 24th to December 17th, the venue hosts KIN London's Christmas Social and is not available for independent bookings outside of that partnership.

Club nights are not permitted due to the listed status of the building and the nature of the cultural programme. Sporting events are also not allowed, despite the venue's historical use as a boxing venue.

No agreement exists until a contract and full terms & conditions are signed by both parties and all hire fees and charges are paid in full. Any enquiry, discussion or correspondence should never be taken as confirmation, and the venue reserves the right to vary or cancel hires pre and post contract without liability.

The venue operates a tiered booking system with first, second, and third options for dates. If you're offered a second or third option, this means other events already have provisional holds, and you'll be contacted if those bookings fall through.

The venue operates primarily on a dry hire basis, allowing you to source external caterers of your choice. They have featured catering suppliers who have previously worked at the venue, and can provide an in-house bar service with a separate Bar Hire Guide available.

Full production services are available in-house including audio, video, lighting, speakers, projectors and monitors. Bespoke production quotes are provided based on specific requirements, with details available in their Production Guide.

Folding chairs and trestle tables are available on site. For larger theatre-style events, up to 500 Matrix seats can be installed in the Assembly Hall with an additional 250 seats available in the balcony. It is the hirer's responsibility to set up and clear down the space unless discussed with the venue in advance.

The venue runs a fully curated cultural programme, meaning all shows are developed in consultation with the venue. For events that align with their cultural programming, you must contact their Cultural Programme team and mention if you came through TagVenue to ensure proper commission processing.

There are no permanent kitchens on site. However, the Old Servery space adjoining the Assembly Hall can be used by caterers to set up the equipment they need for food preparation and service.

The Assembly Hall can accommodate up to 500 people in theatre-style seating with Matrix seats, plus an additional 250 seats in the balcony. For events requiring 650-700 people in theatre style, the venue has confirmed availability and suitability.
