What are the capacity limits and minimum spend requirements for the different event spaces?

The Railway has three private event spaces with different capacities and minimum spends. The Lounge Bar (first floor) accommodates up to 100 seated or 150 standing guests with a £2,500 minimum spend plus 12.5% service charge. The Cocktail Bar (second floor) holds up to 15 seated or 40 standing guests with a £1,000 minimum spend plus 12.5% service charge. The Snug (ground floor) fits up to 30 seated or 50 standing guests with a £500 minimum spend plus 12.5% service charge.

How much deposit is required to secure a booking and when is it due?

Deposit amounts vary by space: £250 for both the Lounge Bar and Cocktail Bar, and £100 for the Snug. The deposit is redeemed against your final bill or refunded back to your card if the event is cancelled with proper notice. You'll receive a secure payment link to complete the deposit payment online.

What audio-visual equipment and entertainment options are included in each space?

All three spaces include HD TVs and Bluetooth music connectivity for your own playlists. The Lounge Bar additionally features the ability to have your own DJ, disco ball and lights. The Cocktail Bar and Snug offer more intimate setups with private bar access and the ability to play music via Bluetooth connection.

Are there any restrictions on bringing external food, drinks, or entertainment?

All food and drink must be purchased at the venue - external catering is not permitted and you have no access to a kitchen. However, you can bring your own DJ for events in the Lounge Bar, and all spaces allow you to play your own music via Bluetooth connection to the venue's sound system.

What additional services are available and what do they cost?

A cloakroom service is available at an additional charge, though the exact cost is not specified. All spaces include private bar service and toilets on the same floor. The venue also offers seasonal menus and the option to arrange viewings or phone consultations to discuss your event requirements.

How long do enquiry holds last and what happens if I don't respond?

Enquiries are held open for 24 hours after initial contact. If you don't respond within this timeframe, the enquiry will be automatically cancelled and the space released. You can reopen the enquiry at a later stage if needed, but availability is not guaranteed.

What are the cancellation terms for different booking types?

For private hire bookings, deposits are refunded if cancelled with proper notice. For bar area bookings, a £5 per person authentication fee applies, which is only charged if you cancel without giving 48 hours' notice or in the event of a no-show. Tables for bar bookings are held for a maximum of 15 minutes past your reservation time.

Is there lift access between floors and what accessibility considerations should I know about?

The venue does not currently have a lift facility, so access between the three floors (ground floor Snug, first floor Lounge Bar, and second floor Cocktail Bar) is via stairs only. This should be considered when planning events for guests with mobility requirements.
