What are the minimum spend requirements for private events at AMANO Covent Garden?

Minimum spend requirements vary by space and date: The Onyx Room requires £6,000-£15,000, Rooftop Bar requires £9,000-£18,000, and Penelope's Restaurant requires £10,000-£16,000. All minimum spends are plus 12.5% service charge and include 20% VAT. These amounts must be spent on food and beverages only.

What are the capacity limits for each event space?

The Onyx Room accommodates up to 150 for standing receptions or 40 for seated dinners. Rooftop Bar holds up to 120-150 for standing receptions only. Penelope's Restaurant seats up to 130 for dinner or 180 for standing receptions. Penelope's Private Meeting Room accommodates 16 guests boardroom style only.

What are the standard event timings and licensing restrictions?

Events typically run from 5pm-12am with last bar orders at 11:15-11:30pm. Spaces must be cleared by 12am due to licensing restrictions, though some events can extend to 1am. Organisers can access spaces earlier for setup, typically from 3pm.

How long are quotes valid and what deposit is required?

All quotes are valid for only 5 working days and subject to availability changes. For restaurant bookings, a 25% deposit is required based on guest numbers and chosen set menu (e.g., 25% of 30 x £70 set menus). For private events, full payment of the minimum spend is typically required upfront as deposit.

What additional costs should I budget for beyond the minimum spend?

Entertainment and decoration are charged separately based on artist fees. DJs cost £500 for 4-hour performances. External equipment hire (like poseur tables) incurs additional charges. A 10% commission applies to the final NET + VAT amount, excluding service charge, cancellations, entertainment, decoration, or external hire.

What AV equipment and technical facilities are included?

The Onyx Room includes projector, 55" screen, AV equipment, A/C, Wi-Fi, and microphone for speeches. Penelope's Private Meeting Room includes 55" screen, AV equipment, A/C, Wi-Fi, flipchart, and stationery. Microphones for speeches are provided free of charge across venues.

Can furniture be removed or rearranged for events?

Yes, loose furniture can be removed to create space for activities like dance floors. The venue offers flexibility with room layouts and can accommodate different seating arrangements. Setup access is typically granted from 3pm for organisers to arrange the space as needed.

What are the food and beverage requirements?

The venue operates on minimum spend basis only, not food/drink packages. For groups of 25+ guests, set menu options start at £70 per person. Food is served family-style with sharing plates featuring Israeli-Spanish fusion cuisine. All prices include VAT but exclude 12.5% service charge.

When is the venue available for site visits and how do I book one?

Site visits are available Monday-Friday 11am-5pm, with some Saturday availability 3pm-7pm. Upon arrival, ask for the Events team at reception. Tours must be booked in advance and dates are only held upon specific request after viewing.

Are there any date restrictions or blackout periods?

The Rooftop Bar is not available on Wednesday 25th June, all Thursdays in June, and Thursday 3rd July 2025. High demand exists for Summer 2025 season (May-September) with constantly changing availability. The venue experiences particularly high demand and availability changes frequently without notice unless a tour is booked.
