Chotto Matte offers three main dining spaces: Claude's (private) seats up to 20 or accommodates 50 standing with a £5,000 minimum spend; Itamae (semi-private) seats up to 40 with a £8,000 minimum spend and features an open sushi counter; and the Lava Lounge/Bar & Lounge (semi-private) accommodates up to 60 seated or 80 standing with a £10,000 minimum spend. All minimum spends exclude the mandatory 15% service charge.

What are the exact costs and payment requirements for booking?

Minimum food and beverage spends range from £5,000 (Claude's) to £10,000 (Lava Lounge), plus a mandatory 15% service charge on all bookings. The full minimum spend must be prepaid as a deposit when signing the contract, which is then redeemed against your final bill on the event day. All prices exclude the 15% service charge unless specifically stated otherwise.

What are the standard operating hours and time restrictions?

The Lava Lounge is available from 18:00 until 00:00 (6pm to midnight). Other spaces may have different availability windows, and daytime events are possible as evidenced by lunch bookings from 12:00-16:00. Event setup time may be available from 16:30 for certain bookings.

Are there mandatory menu requirements for group dining?

Yes, all guests must dine from the same set menu for groups of nine and over. Sample group dining menus start from £95 per person and are served sharing style at the table, featuring dishes from four distinct kitchens to provide the full Nikkei experience. The venue can accommodate dietary requirements including vegan and vegetarian alternatives.

What entertainment and technical facilities are included?

Claude's includes a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, DJ equipment, and a large screen on a stand. The Lava Lounge features live DJ capabilities and is located on the ground floor with the main bar. The venue can provide microphones and has space for small stages or raised platforms for presentations and ceremonies.

What booking process and contract requirements apply?

To secure any booking, you must provide a signed copy of the standard contract along with the full minimum spend amount as a prepaid deposit. This deposit is then redeemed against your final bill on the day of the event. The venue requires these elements to confirm and hold your booking.

Can the venue accommodate both seated dinners and standing receptions?

Yes, most spaces offer flexibility between seated and standing formats. Claude's accommodates 20 seated or 50 standing, while the Lava Lounge handles 60 seated or 80 standing. Itamae is designed specifically for seated dining with a maximum of 40 guests and features an open sushi counter experience.

What additional services and amenities are available?

Claude's is fully self-contained with its own private bar and washroom facilities. The venue offers welcome drinks (such as complimentary Prosecco for certain events), cocktails from £10, and wine/beer from £6.50. Floor-to-ceiling bi-foldable windows are available in the Bar & Lounge area, and the venue can arrange site visits to view the spaces.
