What are the room hire costs for wedding events at The Midland Hotel?

Room hire varies by suite: Fairclough Suite costs £300, Derby Suite costs £500, and Houghton Suite costs £300. The Alexandra Suite, suitable for larger weddings up to 400 guests, costs £12,000 with a mandatory food and beverage spend commitment. All rates are exclusive of VAT.

What are the capacity limits for different wedding setups in the available spaces?

The Alexandra Suite accommodates up to 400 guests for banqueting with stage and dancefloor, 450 with stage only, or 500 for rounds without stage. The Trafford Suite holds 150 cabaret style with no AV/dancefloor/bar, or 120 with AV/bar. Smaller suites like Derby, Fairclough, and Houghton have lower capacities suitable for intimate ceremonies.

Can we use external caterers for our wedding at The Midland Hotel?

External catering is only permitted on Sundays. For all other days, you must use the hotel's catering services. If your wedding date is fixed to a non-Sunday, the hotel can provide all catering requirements instead.

What wedding packages are available and what do they include?

The Midland Dinner Package costs £75 per person (including VAT) with a minimum of 250 guests. It includes a glass of Prosecco/beer/orange juice on arrival, 3-course set menu, half bottle of house wine per person, Alexandra Suite room hire (6pm-1am), bar facilities, stage, dancefloor, white table linen, table centrepieces (subject to availability), and table plan.

Are there restrictions on using public areas of the hotel for wedding photography?

The hotel cannot offer public areas for photography as it affects the experience for other guests, and they cannot guarantee specific areas would be available as public areas are not booked or cordoned off. Photography must be confined to your booked private spaces only.

What is the booking hold period and payment process for weddings?

Events are typically held on joint first option for 2 weeks while you make your decision. For events approaching within 2 weeks, the hold period may be shorter - for example, events may only be held until a specific date like Friday at 12pm if the event date is imminent.

What AV equipment and staging is available for wedding ceremonies and receptions?

All AV equipment is provided by Sterling Event Group at additional cost (contact: 0161 436 4444). The hotel can provide staging at £50 per block (1m x 2m blocks), with the Alexandra Suite accommodating around 8 blocks. Standard LCD projector and screen packages are available, with a 6ft screen and projector costing £150.

What types of events does The Midland Hotel not accommodate?

The Midland Hotel does not currently host proms. They focus on weddings, corporate events, conferences, and private dining. If your event type is not suitable for their venue, they will refer you to alternative venues.

What are the minimum guest requirements for wedding packages?

The Midland Dinner Package requires a minimum of 250 guests. The Afternoon Tea Package requires a minimum of 20 guests at £52 per person (total £1,040 for 20 guests). Smaller intimate weddings may need to book individual room hire and catering separately.

What accommodation options are available for wedding guests?

The hotel offers 312 bedrooms across The Midland Hotel and sister properties Leonardo Hotel Manchester Central and Leonardo Hotel Liverpool. Double bedrooms (single occupancy) including breakfast cost £159 per person at The Midland, or £105 per person at Manchester Central, excluding Manchester City visitor tax of £1 per room per night.
