What are the minimum spend requirements for different areas of The Rooftop?

The Rooftop has several areas with different minimum spends: Full Rooftop hire starts from £25,000-£30,000 including VAT, The Gallery from £12,000-£16,000, The Deck from £14,000, Half Deck from £7,000-£10,000, and The Room from £3,000. All minimum spends are on food and beverage services and include VAT, plus a mandatory 13% discretionary service charge.

What are the capacity limits for each area of The Rooftop?

The Full Rooftop can accommodate up to 180 guests for a standing reception, The Gallery up to 60 guests, The Deck up to 100 guests, Half Deck up to 50 guests, and The Room up to 25 guests. All capacities are for reception-style layouts with standing guests.

What are the operating hours and music restrictions for events?

Events can run from 15:00 to 24:00 (midnight), with music permitted until 24:00. Setup is complimentary from 16:00, and teardown is complimentary until 00:00 after the event ends.

Are there any day-of-week restrictions for bookings?

On Wednesdays and Thursdays, only full exclusive hires of The Rooftop are available - partial area bookings are not offered on these days. Other days of the week allow for both exclusive and semi-private area bookings.

How far in advance can I book, and are there any booking limitations?

The venue cannot provide quotes for bookings beyond January 2025 currently, and their event sales strategy from October 2025 onwards is under review. For groups of 60 guests or fewer, they will only provide quotes a maximum of 30 days prior to the event date.

What food and beverage options are available and how do they work toward the minimum spend?

Food options include 3 canapés at £14.00 per person, Bowl and Buns from £27.00 per person, and sweet selections from £12.00 per person. All food, beverages, and bar service count toward your minimum spend requirement, and if the minimum spend is not met, the remaining amount is charged as room hire.

What weather protection and outdoor features are available?

All Rooftop areas are equipped with retractable canopies for adverse weather conditions and heaters for comfort. The venue offers exceptional views over the city skyline and Trafalgar Square, with The Gallery specifically overlooking Trafalgar Square.

Can I book just a table for smaller groups instead of private hire?

For groups under 25 guests that don't require private space, you can contact The Rooftop team directly at 30 days prior to your event for regular table bookings. Alternatively, the events team can forward your inquiry to the restaurant reservations team for non-private bookings.

What AV equipment and entertainment options are supported?

The venue allows both DJs and live bands, with music permitted until midnight. They can accommodate digital screens for presentations or demos, and the space is suitable for cocktail receptions with background music at conversation-appropriate levels.

How does the discretionary service charge work and when is it applied?

A 13% discretionary service charge is automatically added to all food and beverage spending. This charge is applied to your final bill and is separate from the minimum spend requirement, effectively increasing your total cost beyond the stated minimum spend amounts.
